15.(b) Pinda branch

Japanese name: Pinda Tozan Farm

Brazilian name: Fazenda Monte de Este

Our farm is located between São Paulo and Rio, close to Pindamonyangaba Station on the Central Line. The farm has about 220 houses and a population of around 1,000 people, and they mainly grow rice and livestock, but also do other miscellaneous crops. Rice is cultivated on the largest scale, and in the state of São Paulo, traditionally only upland rice (rice grown in fields) was grown, but our farm has taken the initiative to focus on irrigated paddy fields. They are cultivating Japanese-style wet rice with great success. Currently, 600 hectares of rice are planted and approximately 13,400 bales of paddy have been harvested. The raw material for Tozan Sake Brewery’s famous sake “Azuma Kirin”, which will be discussed later in the industrial section, is produced at this farm. .

The livestock farming mainly involves the breeding and fattening of cattle, and the fattening cattle are purchased from the state of Minas, where they are grazed on our farm, fattened for several months, and then sold on the market for food. In addition to these activities, they also cultivate manjoka potatoes for starch collection and also conduct flour milling operations.
